Local Medical Spa Helps Patients Struggling With Skin Concerns
Ellemes Medical Spa offers a variety of corrective and preventative skin treatments, including for patients with skin issues due to masks.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Like many people, Lauren Siso, founder of Ellemes Medical Spa, did not anticipate this year bringing a worldwide pandemic and the many challenges that brings with it.
She runs the full-service medical spa, which offers a variety of corrective and preventative skin treatments, including laser treatments, intense pulsed light therapy, micro needling, plasma pen, chemical peels, facials and dermaplaning, and most recently, how to combat "maskne," or acne on the face from prolonged mask wearing.
"We help patients all throughout the metro-Atlanta area combat a variety of skin concerns to include acne, dark spots, rosacea, melasma, skin tightening and general anti-aging," Siso said. "As a medical office, we are able to offer our patients prescription grade skincare products that are clinically proven to provide results to the skin."

Pre-pandemic, Siso and her team was busy helping ensure that anyone in the metro Atlanta area who needed help with their skin concerns had a place that they felt comfortable and that they could trust.
While that still rings true today, more safety measures have been put into place for customers.

"We have implemented a variety of safety measures, to include more frequent deep cleaning, mandatory mask requirements and temperature checks for both patients and staff, and implemented complimentary virtual consultations to help eliminate in person traffic where necessary," Siso said. "(The biggest challenge has been) not being able to hug anyone! I am definitely a hugger, and not being able to hug my patients has been a huge struggle that I have had to overcome."
Her business has seen an uptick in patients looking for help with skin concerns as people continue to struggle with breakouts due to continued face mask use, or "mask acne," she said.
"We also have seen an uptick in patients looking for more in-depth treatments such as plasma pen and chemical peels," Siso said. "These treatments usually require more downtime, but given many people continue to work from home they are able to withstand the downtime easier than when they were required to be in the office more frequently."
Even with the added precautions, Siso said her staff has, "built more trusting and stronger relationships with our patients. As we have migrated more online, we are able to be in constant contact with our patients before, during, and post-treatments and can answer any questions and concerns quickly."
"We are lucky to have a great and supporting Atlanta community, particularly in the beauty and aesthetics industry," she said. "We are in constant communication with other local med spa owners, surgeons, nurse injectors and estheticians across the United States, and continue working together to ensure we are all giving our patients the medical spa experience they are used to, while also maximizing patient health and safety."
And for anyone feeling like they are the only one struggling with your skin during this pandemic, you are not alone, Siso said.
"There are a variety of factors such as the constant wearing of face masks that has caused many people to struggle with breakouts and skin inflammation over the past several months," she said. "We can help you with your skin concerns and make recommendations for both at home skin care and in person skin treatments to get your skin back under control."
