Man Killed Walking On Ga. 400 After Car Crash: Police

Sandy Springs Police is investigating after a man died early Monday morning while walking on Ga. 400 after a car crash.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Sandy Springs Police is investigating after a man died early Monday morning while walking on Ga. 400 after a car crash.

At 1 a.m., Sandy Springs Police responded to the area of Ga. 400 North near Roberts Drive about a car crash involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the highway.

After interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence at the scene, Sandy Springs Police traffic investigators learned the man had been involved in an unrelated vehicle collision prior to being struck.

After the first collision, the man got out of his car, and for reasons unknown, started walking on the roadway. Another motorist driving in the same lane hit the man. The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver involved in the initial collision as well as the driver who struck the pedestrian remained on-scene and both contacted 911.
