In Memory: Alice Law Malcolm, Former Holy Innocents' Headmaster
Malcolm began teaching art at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in 1959, and was described as the "heart and soul of the school."

Alice was born in January 1929, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, the child of Kriss Kazmaier and Lealis Thomas Law. Alice attended the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and graduated with a B.F.A. in Landscape Architecture. She later earned a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Georgia State University.
A gifted artist, Alice also enjoyed gardening, needlepointing, gourmet cooking and spending time at her home in Spring Hill, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Owen Hurst Malcolm, to whom she was married from April 15, 1950, until his death on Dec. 26, 2002.

A woman of extraordinary ability, Alice Malcolm began working at Hoy Innocents’ Episcopal School in 1959 teaching art. Characterized by both colleagues and parents as the “heart and soul of the school,” she served as Headmaster of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School from 1983 to 1996, overseeing many significant advances in the school’s history.
She played a key role in acquiring Fulton County’s James L. Riley Elementary School adjacent to HIES, thereby making possible the creation of Holy Innocents’ Upper School. Alice described the development of an Upper School as one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of her tenure.
In 2013, Holy Innocents’ paid tribute to Alice Malcolm through its Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing “an individual who has provided outstanding service and loyalty to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School through leadership, recruitment, advocacy, fundraising, and faithful service to the school.”
In March, 2012, Alice was awarded a Personal Woman of Achievement by the Georgia Women of Achievement. Alice is survived by her three sons, Owen Hurst Malcolm Jr. (Pete) and his wife Michelle Malcolm of North Carolina; Andrew Law Malcolm and his wife Aimee Rigel Malcolm; and Geoffrey Thomas Malcolm and his wife Betsy Barnes Malcolm all of Atlanta.
She is also survived by her many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church. Reception and visitation was held following the service at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School.
