Mount Vernon Highway Bridge To Close For Utility Work
The Georgia DOT also said Mount Vernon Highway will close at Barfield Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 4-7 for utility relocation.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Georgia Department of Transportation's construction partners will close the Mount Vernon Highway bridge over Ga. 400 each night this week from Peachtree Dunwoody Road to Barfield Road for utility work, the state agency said.
The closure will run nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, June 3 through Friday, June 8. Drivers who are traveling eastbound on Mount Vernon Highway are asked to turn left onto Barfield Road and turn right onto Abernathy Road. After making that right onto Abernathy, motorists will be able to turn left onto Mount Vernon Highway.
If you're traveling westbound on Mt. Vernon Highway, you should turn right onto Abernathy Road, left onto Barfield Road/Mercedes Drive and right onto Mount Vernon.

Georgia DOT also said all lanes on Mount Vernon Highway between Glenridge Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road will close nightly from 9 p.m. Monday, June 4 to 5 a.m. Thursday, June 7. Motorists who are traveling on Mount Vernon Highway eastbound to Barfield Road can turn left or right on Glenridge Drive.

Once you turn right onto Glenridge, turn left onto Hammond Drive and make another left onto Peachtree Dunwoody Road to access Mount Vernon Highway. Motorists traveling westbound on Mount Vernon Highway toward Peachtree Dunwoody Road can turn left or right at Peachtree Dunwoody Road.
If you turn right onto PDR, continue until you reach Abernathy Road where you'll make a left. Once on Abernathy, turn left on Glenridge Drive to access Mount Vernon Highway. Motorists turning left on Peachtree Dunwoody Road should turn right on Hammond Drive then right on Glenridge Drive to get back to Mount Vernon Highway. Local traffic will be allowed to travel through the Mount Vernon Highway and Barfield Road intersection closure.

Please note that the road closure is subject to change due to weather and other factors. Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.
