Movies By Moonlight Start Friday in Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- We have just a few more hours before the return of the Leadership Sandy Springs' 12th annual Movies By Moonlight series.

The three-part event, known as the "best block party in Sandy Springs," kicks off Friday, Aug. 26 with "Zootopia."

This film follows a rookie rabbit police officer who teams up with a con-artist fox to solve the disappearance of several animals in the big multi-species metropolis of Zootopia. The final two movies in the 2016 series will be "The Jungle Book" on Sept. 9 and "Ice Age: Collision Course" on Sept. 30.

These family-friendly films will be projected to an audience for viewing on the terraced lawn of the Activity Center at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church.

Prior to the screening, numerous vendors and food trucks will offer entertainment, food and an array of activities.

The opening event will include a trampoline, two bounce houses for older and younger age groups, a musical performance by Los Niños Primero students, touch-a-truck by Sandy Springs Fire and Rescue, tumbling games by Jumpstart Gym, Cinemoms, a movie club for parents offering memberships and novelty items, and more vendors with carnival games, activities and giveaways.

Food for purchase will be on hand by food trucks from returning favorites Chef Rob’s Caribbean Café, Yumbii, and Chick-fil-A, as well as concessions by LSS.

While movies will begin at dark, families are encouraged to stop by at 6 p.m. for fun, purchase dinners or bring their own picnic baskets, blankets and coolers. Alcohol is not permitted.
