North Metro SWAT Apprehend Wanted Man After Stand-off
Sandy Springs Police had arrived at a residence to address a woman threatening suicide and discovered a man wanted on drug warrants.

A police call on a woman threatening suicide resulted in a man being taken into custody by members of North Metro SWAT, five hours later.
Just after 11 a.m. Monday, officers were called to Granite Ride Place near Northridge Road, regarding the woman, and she was transported to the hospital. According to the police Facebook page, an officer recognized a man at the residence as Carlton Jerard Phoenix, of Ellenwood, who was wanted on drug warrants.
Phoenix retreated into the apartment and refused to surrender to police. North Metro SWAT entered the apartment, Tasered Phoenix and took him into custody just before 4 p.m.

According to police, charges against Phoenix include felony probation violation, a previous obstruction charge and several traffic charges.
Fulton County Jail records show several arrests for Phoenix that date back as far as 2000. Some of those charges included drug possession and simple battery against police officers.Â
