North Springs Girls Relay Team Ranked No. 1 In USA

North Springs Girls Relay Team "flies" to number one at the recent Fulton County Track Championships.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA - From North Springs High School: North Springs Charter High School’s award-winning 4x400 girls’ relay team of junior Saran Kouyeth, sophomore Kayla Tolbert, and seniors Jayda Drake Howard and Kennedi Weston Shields, can add a number one national ranking to their list of awards! The team, ranked #1 in Georgia, ran the 4 x 400 relay in 3:43.31 at the Fulton County Track Championships on March 27th, giving North Springs its third national title in the past four years – 2015, 2017, and 2018. In 2016, the relay team was ranked 2nd in the U.S.

Earlier this year, Jayda Drake-Howard signed a full 5 year scholarship to run track at the University of Central Florida.

The North Springs girls’ track team is coached by track veterans - PE Department chair Patty Carroll and gold medal Olympian and track hall of famer, Antonio McKay. The girl’s track team won the state championship in 2004, 2005 and again in 2015 and 2016. They will be competing in the Georgia Spring Break Show Down in Marietta on April 7.
