North Springs Student Athletes Commit To College Programs
The three students will play baseball, lacrosse and swim, respectively, at their schools of choice.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Three North Springs Spartans have committed to compete at the college level.
The North Springs Charter students, Rebecca Cohen, Jack Gersten and Jack Spencer, all made their respective choices known on Friday, Nov. 11.
Cohen will be swimming for the University of South Carolina’s Division I SEC Swim and Dive Team while Gersten will play Division I Baseball at Brown University.

Spencer is set to play Lacrosse at Goucher College in the Division III Landmark Conference.
“These students have worked hard to reach these milestones," said Athletic Director Lamarr Green, as he welcomed the students, parents, coaches and friends to the special signing ceremony in the school’s media center. "This is a testament to them and their parents (and) we are excited and proud of them."

Cohen, who began swimming as an eight-year-old, currently holds three North Springs swim records in 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard Individual medley and 500-yard freestyle. She will have represented North Springs all four years at the Fulton County, Metro and State Swim Meets, as well as State, Sectional and National USA meets.
A math/science magnet student at North Springs, Rebecca will major in psychology and plans to become an occupational therapist.
Gersten, also a math/science magnet student, will be a pre-med student at Brown. At North Springs he was a four year varsity starter, 2016 Offensive Player of the Year and played three years with the Georgia Jackets National Travel Team.
Spencer began playing lacrosse eight years ago and now plays year-round between North Springs and his club team, Atlanta Empire Lacrosse. As a freshman goalie he recorded the only shutout in the school's lacrosse history.
This past summer his club team won the East Coast Lacrosse Showcase, knocking off the number one ranked public school in Maryland and he was named an All-Star. He plans to major in business and economics at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Our student athletes build a legacy that is a valuable part of what truly represents North Springs Charter High School,” Principal Scott Hanson, added.
