Publix To Close Prado Location In Sandy Springs

The company said the store at 5630 Roswell Road has been under-performing "for some time."

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Publix has announced it will close one of its stores in Sandy Springs. The company confirmed to Patch that its location at The Prado at 5630 Roswell Road will shut down at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.

Company spokesperson Brenda Reid said this location "has been under-performing for some time." There is one bright spot in this situation, however. Reid said all associates at this store have been offered positions at other locations around the metro Atlanta, so no one will be out of a job.

The Prado Publix is smaller than its average store size of 45,000 square feet, Reid added.

"We have several stores in this size range," she told Patch. "We tend to put these in areas where real estate may be limited."

The Prado is anchored by Target, and features a slew of restaurants such as Taco Mac, Five Seasons Brewing, Pizza Crosta, Under the Cork Tree and Marlow's Tavern. Other businesses in the development include LifeTime Fitness, Game Stop, Mattress Firm and other health and customer service related ventures.
