Qualifying Fees Set For Sandy Springs Mayor, City Council
The fees are set for those who wish to run for mayor and city council during its next municipal election, which takes place in November.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs City Council has approved the qualifying fees for those who wish to run for mayor and city council during its next municipal election, which takes place in November. The community elects its mayor and council members at the same municipal election every four years.
In accordance with city code, qualifying fees are three percent of the total gross salary of the office paid in the preceding calendar year. The city’s mayor receives $40,000 per year, with the qualifying fee set this year at $1,200. council members each receive a salary of $18,000 per year, with the qualifying fee set for $540.
To qualify, a person must be a resident of Sandy Springs for at least 12 months before the date of the election. Council members must also reside in the district they plan to represent for at least six months. The qualifying period for the municipal election is Aug. 16 – 20.
