Recent Crimes and Arrests in Sandy Springs

A Sandy Springs housekeeper was arrested on a hit and run warrant in Smyrna.

Recent crime information from the week of Aug. 5 provided by Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose

  • Cops responded on an alarm in the 400 block of Heards Drive. The housekeeper said she didn’t know how the alarm tripped but the owner was on the way home. The officer checked the housekeeper on GCIC and found that she was wanted on an arrest warrant for hit and run in Smyrna. She was arrested.
  • A man reported that while he was at the LA Fitness, someone went into his locker and took his car keys and then opened his car where the thief took his wife’s purse. The report says the man did not place a lock on the locker because thieves cut his lock in the past.
  • Another theft was reported at LA Fitness by a victim who left his keys in his clothes in the unlocked locker. He later found the keys in the door of his car. Nothing was taken from the car. The victim did hide his wallet in the car and it was not taken.
  • A man reported that someone used his personal information to attend the International School of Skin and Nail between January, 2011 and May of 2012. Apparently the person used the fraudulently obtained information to obtain a $4700 loan. The victim was informed of such when he used a credit card.
  • A woman from Oregon reported that she was visiting Sandy Springs. She needed to return home so she contacted someone on Craigslist and made arrangements to share a ride and cost. The man who contacted her said his name was Kevin Krenke. She made two Western Union wires totaling $182 to one in Savannah and the other in Macon. She never heard back from Kevin Krenke.
  • The victim found three open accounts on her credit when she checked her credit history. The accounts were immediately closed.
