Riverwood Pitcher Commits To Play College Baseball

Riverwood International Charter School's Griffin Brown has committed to play baseball at Pensacola State College.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA - From Riverwood International Charter School: Riverwood International Charter School senior, Griffin Brown, signed a commitment to play baseball at Pensacola State College in Florida. He received an academic and athletic full scholarship to play for the Pirates, who compete in the Panhandle Conference of the Florida State College Activities Association. Brown, a right-hander, will join the pitching staff. Notes Riverwood head baseball coach, Trey Henson, “Griffin is a great young man. He has excelled at Riverwood both in the classroom and on the baseball field. He will anchor the pitching staff and lineup as a senior for a Raider team that posted a 22-8 record in 2017. I feel sure that Griffin will be an asset to the program at Pensacola State.”

Brown played baseball for the Riverwood Raiders for four years, three of them on Varsity. He also served as a quarterback for the Riverwood football team in 9th through 11th grades, before leaving football to focus on baseball. His travel and summer ball experiences included seasons with teams at 643 DP Athletics and East Cobb Baseball. Off the field, Brown is a committed member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Beta Club, the Riverwood Community Service Club, and he participates in Young Life. Brown is the son of Nikki and Greg Brown, who serves as an assistant baseball coach at Riverwood.
