Sandy Springs Celebrates Kids To Parks Day

The city will host its event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 21 at Hammond Park.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- On Saturday, the city of Sandy Springs wants you to gather up the youngsters and head over to Hammond Park to celebrate national Kids To Parks Day.

For the sixth year, the city will participate in the National Park Trust's annual event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 21 at Hammond Park.

The organization works to combat both low park attendance and increasing obesity in children as well as adults.

“Sandy Springs is home to such wonderful parks like Hammond Park and (it) is a perfect venue for families to get outdoors together," said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

Activities for all ages will be provided by the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department, and some of those include obstacle course challenges, water slides, inflatables, face painting, balloon artist, raffles, DJ music, and much more.

The National Park Trust encourages children to venture outside and explore their local parks, while discovering nature and history to energize their next adventure. National Kids to Park Day is held annually on the third Saturday each May and brings in more than 100,000 families and kids to local parks across the country.

Admission is free, and the park is located at 705 Hammond Drive.
