Sandy Springs Receives $36K From Coronavirus Enforcement Grant
The funds will be used to purchase Personal Protective Equipment and cleaning equipment for public safety personnel in Sandy Springs.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The City of Sandy Springs was awarded a $36,695 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Coronavirus Enforcement Supplement Funding Grant Program.
The funds will be used to purchase personal protective equipment and cleaning equipment for public safety personnel. The equipment and supplies include respirator masks, mask filters, safety glasses, gloves, disposable medical gowns, multiple electrostatic sprayers, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, and disposable paper masks. The acceptance of these funds allows the Sandy Springs Police Department to retroactively fund personal protective equipment and supplies purchased by the police department since Jan. 20, and expand those items that are needed to most efficiently continue to serve the public during the pandemic.
The strict practices of the Sandy Springs Police Department have allowed for the department to operate with only one confirmed COVID case among the almost 200 department employees. The tight protocols and adherence to strict sanitary and safety measures have been instrumental in preventing the spread of the disease among the department.
