The Springs Is Serving Up Drive-In Movies with A Cause

Offering an innovative solution to social distancing, The Springs Cinema & Taphouse, historically an indoor theater in Sandy Springs, has expanded its offerings to include drive-in movies each Thursday through Sunday.

The food- and drink-filled evenings in the cinema’s parking lot have proven popular – with moviegoers as well as organizations interested in partnering with The Springs.

On June 26, “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” was sponsored by the Barnes Young Team with Keller Williams Realty. In business for 19 years, with a combined total of 50 years of real estate experience, the Barnes Young Team does more than provide hands-on real estate service. They are also giving back to those in the community hit by COVID-19 with Solidarity Sandy Springs, a popup food pantry in the Solidarity Plaza, 120 Northwood Drive, Suite 115, Sandy Springs.

Opened March 27, the food pantry has turned into a major community project, serving an average of 150 families each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. At The Springs, Jennifer Barnes, Dawn Young Proctor and Erin Oliver were on hand to collect donations prior to showtime.

Solidarity Sandy Springs recently formed a partnership with the Sandy Springs City Council and are working with Mission Sandy Springs to provide a free kids camp in July. To donate, or for more information, go to https://solidaritysandysprings.com.

The Springs began offering drive-in movies June 5. Two weeks later, the Atlanta Journal Constitution listed The Springs drive-in among the 16 best things to do on Father’s Day in metro Atlanta. An outside bar offering beer and wine complements a full kitchen and bar inside the theater. Patrons, who are treated to outdoor music before movies, can place orders online and have them delivered to their cars.
