Tools For School Provides Children With Backpacks, Supplies

The Community Assistance Center is asking the public to help them prepare roughly 900 less fortunate children for the 2017-18 school year.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The Community Assistance Center wants to ensure local children in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody have the supplies they need to have a successful school year.

The organization, which serves less fortunate residents in both cities, is seeking to provide free school supplies to local, financially disadvantaged children and would like your support in its mission.

CAC expects to provide roughly 900 local children with backpacks and school supplies. You can help support its Tools For Schools campaign by donating $35, which will provide the funds needed to equip a child with a new backpack and school supplies.

Children of families who struggle financially often go to school without the necessary tools to learn, CAC states. Studies show that when kids have school supplies of their own, classroom behavior and grades improve, self-esteem strengthens, and kids develop better attitudes toward school and learning, the organization adds.

When you go online to donate, you can choose to give $35 for one backpack or any amount you wish. You can also select which school you'd like to support.

Volunteers will stock each backpack with supplies per school and grade requirements and distribute the bags at the end of July.
