Volunteers Needed for North Fulton Rivers Alive Clean-up

 Volunteers are asked to put on their work boots and roll up their sleeves for the 23rd annual North Fulton Rivers Alive clean up event.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and volunteers will be tasked with removing litter and debris from roadways, plant flowers and perform other beautification projects.

Registration for volunteers will start at 8:30 a.m. at Rock Mill Park, situated along Big Creek, in Alpharetta. 

"This is a great event for families, scout troops, service groups and individuals,” said Terry Porter, Alpharetta's environmental program coordinator. "Participants help keep our water source and the vital habitats it supports clean and healthy."

Volunteers under the age of 18 must complete and have a parent/guardian sign the the Rivers Alive Volunteer Waiver form, which can be downloaded from the city's website or Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission's Facebook page. 

The north Fulton event is part of Rivers Alive, a volunteer waterway clean up project that takes place across the state. 

It's sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division's Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Program and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs' Keep Georgia Beautiful Program. 

This year's clean up in north Fulton coordinated by the city of Alpharetta, Alpharetta Natural Resource Commission, the city of Roswell, Keep Roswell Beautiful and the Chattahoochee Nature Center.
