Dozens of roads are closed in the city. Georgia Power notes more than 26,000 of its Fulton customers are without electricity.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- If you don't have to get out on the roads Saturday, then you should stay home. That's the message the city of Sandy Springs, along with state officials, are trying to get across to residents, as crews work to clear trees and power lines that have come down overnight and Saturday morning.

The city has compiled a list of downed trees and power lines on its Facebook page and website. It's also encouraging those without electricity to check power outages on Georgia Power's website. More than 26,000 of its customers in Fulton County are currently without power, the company's website notes.

Trees and/or power lines are reported down and roads are closed at the following locations:

You should also keep regular tabs on the city's website and Facebook page for any changes in road conditions in Sandy Springs.

Across metro Atlanta, Georgia Department of Transportation crews have treated more than 3,000 lane miles, distributed 172,000 gallons of brine overnight and have plowed and salted all bridges, ramps and overpasses.

"We will work diligently throughout the day in Northern Georgia in preparation for the low temps tonight," the agency added on its Facebook page. "Majority of our interstates are in good shape and we will be hitting I-20 West (especially Carroll County) hard today as it is one of our hardest hit areas."

Fulton County arts centers, libraries and recreation centers are also closed Saturday due to the weather conditions. Any county centers with Sunday hours of operation are slated to open Dec. 10, said spokesperson Darryl Carter.

Public safety and other essential services will continue. Crews are mobilized to provide transportation services in the City of South Fulton.

The Fulton County School System also said it's cancelled any activities planned for Saturday, including its Walk To Remember walk-through of the former Milton High School in Alpharetta. That will be rescheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
