Woman Arrested After Hit-And-Run Kills Sandy Springs Owner, Dog

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Sandy Springs Police have made an arrest after an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a man and his dog.

Before 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, Sandy Springs Police officers went to Hammond Drive near Glenridge Drive regarding a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian. Officers found a 25-year-old man and his dog, both of whom had been hit while on a walk.

The victim was identified as Michael Farmer, 25, of Sandy Springs, and his dog, a Catahoula named Bruce. Both died from their injuries.

Officers determined that a woman driving a white sedan was traveling eastbound when she struck the victim, and then fled the scene.

Sandy Springs Police traffic investigators discovered that minutes before, the same vehicle had been involved in another hit-and-run near Roswell Road and I-285. The suspect was speeding while fleeing that first incident when the car hit the pedestrian and his dog.

Sandy Springs traffic investigators, along with assistance from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, determined the driver of the 2020 white Chevy Malibu with a Florida tag was in Newnan.

The suspect was identified as Dominique Houston, 38, of Newnan. She was charged following too closely, two counts of hit-and-run, first degree vehicular homicide, and reckless driving.

Houston has been booked into the Fulton County Jail and is awaiting prosecution.
