Donated Narcan Allows Smyrna Cops To Save 2 Lives
Police say they saved two lives on Wednesday with Narcan donated by the Cobb Community Foundation.
SMYRNA, GA — The Smyrna Police Department made use of a life-saving donation on Wednesday, a release from the department says. Four officers responded to the Wendy's on S. Cobb Drive to find two men, twin brothers, unresponsive from an opioid overdose.
The officers used Narcan, funding for which was donated by the Cobb Community Foundation, to save their lives.
Relying on their tactical medical training and newly issued Narcan packs, the officers administered Narcan which immediately reversed the effects of the illegal drug overdose," the release says.

"Smyrna Police Department believes had the officers not had the training or the Narcan packs available to them, the two subjects would have surely died," according to the release.
The donation came on Oct. 5 when Yvette Williams of the Cobb Community Foundation donated over $6,000 to the department for the purchase of Narcan, alongside officer training and equipping of Narcan.

Police say they're extremely grateful for the donation, and that the partnership between police and the Cobb Community Foundation is a great example of the relationship the department has with the community they serve.
