Interim City Administrator Gets Permanent Gig

Mike Jones has been Smyrna's administrator for five months, but now has the job on a permanent basis.

SMYRNA, GA -- The Smyrna City Council has named the city’s interim administrator to the permanent role, according to a report.

Mike Jones has been working as the administrator since August, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the city, the Marietta Daily Journal reports. The city council, apparently pleased with Jones’ efforts, named him the permanent city administrator during their most recent meeting.

Jones told the MDJ he was looking forward to building on the progress he had made in his first five months, and specifically mentioned accelerating projects enabled by the 2016 SPLOST.
