Smyrna Closes Court, Library And More Due To Tropical Storm Zeta
The city sent out multiple crews Thursday to work on restoring power and to clear trees from the roads.
SMYRNA, GA — Power outages and road closures were reported Thursday in Smyrna due to Tropical Storm Zeta.
“We are reporting a large number of road closures due to trees/power lines down. The City’s public works department has multiple crews out working to clear roads,” said city officials. Georgia Power is handling a large number of outages and will take time to restore power.”

City of Smyrna court will be closed Thursday and all cases will be rescheduled to December 7th. Rescheduled notices will be mailed.
Smyrna Community Center currently does not have power at this time. City officials said they will update their Facebook page once power is restored.

The Smyrna Museum will be closed Thursday due to the power outage. They will be open on 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday. Also, the Smyrna Library will be closed Thursday and will reopen Friday during regular hours.
One million Georgians were initially without electricity Thursday morning as winds from Tropical Storm Zeta hit the Atlanta region about 5 a.m., bringing down trees and power lines. The PowerOutage.US website, which tracks problems nationwide, said Georgia Power alone had 611,568 customers offline at 8:30 a.m.
The National Weather Service had worried that saturated soil and tropical storm-strength winds and rain would cause major problems for the state. Atlanta area residents were urged by the agency to shelter from the wind and hazards.
