Smyrna School Is the 'Epitome of Excellence'
King Springs Elementary earned a "highest progress" designation.

Smyrna's King Springs Elementary School was named one of 28 Georgia Schools of Excellence in Student Achievement and will receive a $1,000 check from Georgia Natural Gas to be used however school officials wish.
King Springs Elementary earned a "highest progress" designation based on its College and Career Ready Performance Index, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Education. It was the only school in Smyrna to make the list.
Two other Cobb schools were also singled out for their gains. Garrison Mill Elementary and Kennesaw Charter made the "highest progress" list.
"These schools are the epitome of excellence,” Superintendent John Barge said in a statement. “Their focus on areas that impact student success is evident across the board.”
