SOUTH COBB, GA — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around South Cobb so you can start planning now.

What: Braves Fourth of July Celebration

Where: Truist Park, 755 Battery Ave., Atlanta

When: Friday, July 2 at 7:20 p.m. and Sunday, July 4 at 1:20 p.m.

Get tickets for the Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins games on July 2 and July 4 to enjoy Fourth of July celebrations with the team.

After the game Friday night, enjoy post-game Friday night fireworks presented by Georgia Lottery. Then on Sunday, arrive early to the Independence Day celebration game because the first 3,000 kids age 14 and under through the gate get a mini Ronald Acuna Jr. bobblehead.

Acworth


What: Acworth July 4th Concert & Fireworks

Where: Cauble Park, 4425 Beach St., Acworth

When: Sunday, July 4 from 4-10 p.m.

The city of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association are hosting a fireworks show, "one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in metro Atlanta," according to a news release.
Live music starts at 5:30 p.m., and fireworks will start at approximately 9:30 p.m. (subject to change depending on weather). Admission to the event and concert is free.

Tables are available to purchase for the July 4 concert for $50 each (for city of Acworth residents) and $70 (for non-city residents). Table purchases come with six chairs and one parking pass, which allows you to park at Cauble Park as long as spots remain available. You're not guaranteed a spot, so city officials recommend arriving early.

Anyone who parks at Cauble Park will not be allowed to leave once the fireworks begin. Cars can exit the parking lot once the fireworks show has concluded and the crowd has cleared out.
Online table sales close Wednesday, June 23 at 5 p.m. Click here to purchase tables online. In-person purchases at the Acworth Community Center close on Saturday, June 26 at 2 p.m.

From the city of Acworth: "If you do not have a parking pass or if the parking is full, you will need to park downtown and walk down to the park. Shuttles will not be running for this event. Handicap parking will be available at McCall Primary School and there will be a shuttle provided for handicap attendees. Handicap shuttles begin at noon."

Kennesaw


What: Salute to America

Where: Downtown Kennesaw

When: Saturday, July 3 from 6-10 p.m.

The city of Kennesaw is hosting a free pre-Independence Day celebration with live music, festive street entertainment, food vendors and activities for children, plus a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. There's also a kid's parade at noon prior to the rest of the festivities.

  • 6 p.m.: Presentation of colors and national anthem at Depot Park Stage, 2828 Cherokee St.
  • 6-7:15 p.m.: Woody Earwood concert (Main Street stage)

Parking

Public parking will not be available at Depot Park for this event. Free public parking will be available at the following locations:

  • Adams Park & the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive
  • Along Lewis Street, between North Main Street & Dallas Street
  • Surface parking behind Revival on Main (access entrance from Watts Drive)
  • First floor of the parking deck at Revival on Main (access entrance from Watts Drive)

Handicap-only parking is available in the lot at the intersection of North Main Street and Moon Station Road.

The city of Kennesaw mobile app — available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store — features a parking map for the downtown area. Using the map, app users can see what specific parking lots are open and follow directions to all downtown public parking lots using the phones’ map system.

Marietta


What: Fourth in the Park Festival, Let Freedom Ring Parade and Fireworks Show

Where:

  • Parade starts at Roswell Street Baptist Church, 774 Roswell St., Marietta.
  • Festival activities are located at Glover Park and downtown Marietta, 50 N. Park Square.

When: Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m.

From the city of Marietta: "The city of Marietta will host its annual Fourth in the Park Festival from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with a parade and celebration on the Square sponsored by Fontis Water, 94.9 The Bull, JRM Management Services, Inc. and Superior Plumbing.

The event will include free concerts, arts and crafts show, food, kid’s zone, and a fireworks finale, which will begin at dark.

The Let Freedom Ring Parade, starting at 10 a.m., begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and continues west on Roswell Street, north on East Park Square past Glover Park, down Cherokee Street, and ends at North Marietta Parkway. Parade entries include marching bands, civic organizations, beauty queens, local businesses and many more. 'The Essential Worker' will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal for the Let Freedom Ring Parade.

The arts and crafts show, food concessions and carnival games will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m."

Temporary road closures

  • Roswell Street west of Cobb Parkway: closed for parade from 9:15 a.m. until parade ends around 12:15 p.m.
  • North, South, East and West Park Square around the Marietta Square: closed entire day for festival

Powder Springs


What: SpringsFest

Where: Across the railroad tracks at Thurman Springs Park, 4485 Pineview Drive, Powder Springs

When: Sunday, July 4 at noon

Festivities include live on-stage performances organized by Nu Star Maker Performing Arts & Talent Management; face painting; bouncy houses; game trucks; food vendors and more. A selection of domestic and craft beer and wine will also be available for sale.

No outside food and drinks or coolers will be allowed, and attendees are encouraged to purchase from the local businesses at the event.

The event will culminate at 9:30 p.m. with a fireworks show. For more information, call 404-954-2576.

“SpringsFest is an annual event since 2017. It’s been a hit each year, and it’s grown each year since its inception. It’s gotten bigger and better, and the citizens absolutely love it,” said Henry Lust, mayor pro tem for the city of Powder Springs, in a news release. “When you mention SpringsFest their eyes light up and they say oh yes, we’re looking forward to that.”

From the city of Powder Springs: "Managed by Ricketts Rhodes Events, the Powder Springs Carnival and SpringsFest will ensure an exciting independence weekend for residents of Powder Springs and surrounding communities, including Austell, Mableton, Hiram and Marietta. All are invited to enjoy the weekend festivities.

'For those who have enjoyed going to the county fair with their family and friends, we’re thrilled to awaken the excitement that the fair has come to town. And for the younger generation, we’re eager to help them build lifelong memories in their hometown,' said Petergaye Rhodes with Ricketts Rhodes Events.

Event attendees are encouraged to take Uber or Lyft to the designated carpool/shuttle drop-off at the Seven Springs Museum, 4355 Marietta St.
