Anne Taylor Envisions South Cobb as Unique Suburban Haven

Anne Taylor is running for District 39 state representative. The 51-year-old has lived in the area for the last 16 years and now owns her own real estate agency.

She told South Cobb Patch that she is interested in "creating a unique suburban enclave with easy access to downtown Atlanta.  I envision incredible communal space along the Chattahoochee River, affordable residential development construction along the Six Flags corridor with desirable hotels and restaurants near Six Flags park.  Less industrial space along Veterans Memorial Pkwy, and
improvements and open space in the downtown Austell area."

Below, she tells South Cobb Patch readers who she is and what she hopes to accomplish if elected.

1. Why did you decide to run for District 39 House Representative?

I was invited to participate in a IEP by a friend with  a special
needs child and was introduced to a pastor who was concerned that the
needs of the citizens weren't the top priority of  the current
representative.   I initially declined but the more I listened, the
more I learned and I knew we needed a stronger leader.

2. What do you bring to the table that would make you the best candidate for this position?

A strong desire to be intimately involved on a grassroots level to
improve the area.  I've had a long career as an entrepreneur and in
corporate America, money and prestige are the least of my desires at
this stage of my life.  I'm very happy helping others.  It comes
naturally for me.  Additionally, I am a leader and have the ability to
work with other legislators to improve conditions for all.

3. Give specific examples of ways you have helped an organization/project be successful.
I'm supported countless women and  children in the 13 years of service
at Juvenile Court.  I've  help to build over 10 homes and supported 5
or 6 families for the first year of their ownership.  I was
responsible for the Adopt A Mile program for 2 years while on the
board of Mableton Improvement Coalition.

4. What are the three top challenges facing the South Cobb community? How will you tackle them and implement solutions to these challenges?

a)Crime along the Six Flags corridor-- satellite precincts that are
located within the area- I'd love to see walking and/or bicycle
patrols , installing timed lights and camera's in strategic
locations-maintaining a balance between the public's privacy and the
use of technology. Always being accessible to establish and encourage
a open door policy with local enforcement and grassroots
organizations.  Expanding the Six Flags LCI to address citizen
concerns.

b) Development of the Veteran Memorial Pkwy/Riverline- Using the
approved funding to ensure accountability and that the citizens
immediate needs are always in the forefront.  Encouraging small
business development in this corridor by working hands with local
leaders and elected officials.

c) Making sure the public is properly served by the funds available
to redevelopment South Cobb -SCD Authority.  I feel the representative
should regularly attend meetings and be very visible.

5. Why do you live in South Cobb?
Accessibility.  We have the best of both world's here in South
Cobb.  Quiet community but with access to major  interstates,   I20, I
75 and 285.  I love the closest of the airport and a short ride to my
mom's house in Alabama.
30 years ago I chose Cobb and I love it even more now !!!

6. What is your overall vision for South Cobb?
