Austell Salesman Assaulted

When he knocked on Robert Wiggs' front door, he "was met with the accused holding a large kitchen knife," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

A knife-wielding Austell man who allegedly chased a neighborhood solicitor last Wednesday remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

About 6:30 p.m. May 22, William Peden was soliciting in the 1300 block of Ling Drive. When he knocked on Robert Wiggs' front door, he "was met with the accused holding a large kitchen knife," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Wiggs allegedly charged toward Peden, threw a knife at Peden, picked up a rock and threw it at the victim, walked back inside his residence, and refused to answer the door for officers, according to the warrant.
