Cobb DOT Must Be Held Accountable For Their Lack Of Service

I'm sure you have received this year's property tax assessment bill.

Cobb County DOT receives funding from property taxes paid by homeowners. Cobb DOT lack of service in our community should not and will not go unnoticed. We deserve the same quality of service as other areas of the county. But, in order to get these services we must demand them.

In a recent article I shared that Cobb DOT, according to the District 4 Commissioner has decided that taxpaying homeowners are now responsible for the channeling of storm water if there is a storm water ditch located in the public right-of-way in front of their homes. What a joke! Even though, their very own GIST system outlines this property as clearly public right-of-way designated as such by the County. Also, get this, it only applies to our community. Now mind you this is a service that under the previous leadership, Cobb DOT provided. When leadership changed, Cobb DOT changed without realizing that leadership will change again.

Why is the level of Cobb DOT service different when it comes to our community? Why are we treated like third world citizens by Cobb DOT when it comes to our community? Why are our community streets being patched and other communities streets are being completely re-surfaced? Why are trees hanging over right-of-ways in our community and being pruned in other communities? Lastly, why are we allowing Cobb DOT to treat us as if we don't exist?

We have to rise up and speak out on this blatant neglect from Cobb DOT. I'm seeking help on other avenues and I'll keep you posted. One thing I promise you, I WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE AND I WON'T GIVE UP UNTIL OUR COMMUNITY IS TREATED THE SAME AS THE REST OF COBB! YOU HAVE MY WORD!
