Cobb Restaurant Inspections: Chicken Thawing Inside Vegetable Prep Sink

MARIETTA, GA — Do you really know how clean your favorite restaurant or coffee shop is? Sure, you love the food but it seems to taste better when you know what the score from their latest food inspection.

Here are some restaurant and food service inspections conducted recently in Cobb County. To see more information about the eating establishments, click on the date or score.
The state uses a point system in rating the food industry. Each item is valued between 1 and 9 on an inspection form. Points can be deducted (often shown in red) as well. More points can be taken based on the greater risk of sickness and repeat violations be mean even more subtracted from a restaurant's score.
Scores from 90 to 100 are signified by the letter A. From 89 to 80 is a B, from 79 to 70 is a C and a U is for less than 70.

  • Inspector: "Observed chicken thawing inside vegetable prep sink. CA: 3. Ready-to-eat food such as potatoes, soups, chili, sauces, etc., may be thawed, rehydrated, or cooled after cooking in the sink if the sink is cleaned and sanitized before ready to eat food is placed in the sink and again before washing whole, raw fruits and vegetables. This does not apply to ready to eat food that is served as raw or undercooked animal foods. COS: PIC moved chicken to three compartment sink to thaw. Corrected On-Site. New Violation."
  • "Observed employee washing their hands less than 15-20 seconds and touching the faucet handles with their bare hands. CA: Food employees shall follow the proper procedure when washing hands: 1. Rinse under clean, running warm water; 2. Apply an amount of cleaning compound recommended by the cleaning compound manufacturer; rub together vigorously for at least 10 to 15 seconds while paying particular attention to removing soil from underneath the fingernails during the cleaning procedure and thoroughly rinse under clean, running warm water and clean hands with paper towels and also shut off faucet handles with the paper towel. COS: EHS demonstrate to employees on how to properly wash their hands. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.
