Randall Bramlett Gets Randy for Second Candlelite Concert Saturday
Randall Bramlett will perform at 8 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre.

Randall Bramblett and his band are headlining the second concert of the South Cobb Arts Alliance's annual Candlelite Summer Concert Series on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. The concert is free, and the music will get you in the groove.
You may not have heard the name Randall Bramblett, but he is well-known for his songwriting talents in musical circles. You might even call him legendary.
Since releasing a couple of acclaimed solo albums in the mid-1970s, Bramblett has been honing his craft, joining a jazz-rock group and playing the saxophone and keyboard for Traffic, Steve Winwood, Levon Helm and Bonnie Raitt.

At Raitt's recent show at the Cobb Energy Center, she joined him on stage for a performance of one of his songs when the Randall Bramblett Band opened for her.
Bramblett "grew up playing soul music" in Jesup, GA. His hero was James Brown, but he also had a lot of Ray Charles and some jazz influences. He was inspired to try songwriting by listening to James Taylor and Carole King, and after doing so, he abandoned his seminary plans after graduating from the University of North Carolina and moved to Athens, GA.
Â
Bob Dylan was also a huge source of inspiration for Bramblett.
"I think he freed songwriters from feeling obliged to make strict literal sense. He expanded the boundaries of popular songs and that probably gave me permission to explore that, too," he said on his website.
Â
Some of the songs on Bramblett's most recent album are about loss of people close to him.

"The songs on this record come out of a very rich time in my life," Bramblett was quoted to say on his website. "We've had losses, we've had births. My home is in a beautiful place in nature. I look out and I feel grateful and amazed and inspired and sad and joyful all at the same time."
