Georgia Weather Forecast: Rain Before a Deep Chill, Slight Chance for Snow

ATLANTA, GA — Rain that filled New Year's Day will continue through Monday, possibly with a thunderstorm, as we look ahead to a cold end to the week, according to the National Weather Service.

We'll dry up Tuesday, with temperatures climbing to 66 degrees — the highest we'll see this week.

Temperatures start dropping Wednesday, and we'll be down to a high near 48 degrees by Thursday.

On Thursday night, there's a slight chance for rain and snow, with a low temperature around 29 degrees. There's another chance for snow Friday night, as temperatures drop a little bit lower. Chance for any precipitation is 20 percent.

On Saturday night, we'll get down to a low of 26 degrees.

Sunday Night: Rain with patchy drizzle. Patchy fog. Low around 51. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday: Rain before 8am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Patchy fog before 8am. High near 62. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday
A 30 percent chance of showers before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of light rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 43.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of light snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41.
