I Hate to Say I Told You So!

Proverbs 29:13 Where there is no vision, the people perish!

And the story goes!

Lisa Cupid was the District Commissioner for South Cobb’s District 4 for eight years. Five of those eight years she was MIA as she set her sight on a higher seat. She danced around other parts of the county portraying our community as an island of poverty in which I corrected her on numerous occasions. The Atlanta Regional Commission released an LCI (Livable Community Initiatives Study) in June of 2012 depicting our community with an Average Household Income of $63,586 a year. This income level disqualified our community from being able to benefit from the Opportunity Zone funding. Lisa Cupid downplayed our community and never could advocate for community development because she couldn’t get along with other members of the board. Her tongue lashing, temper tantrums (remember the fainting incident with Tim Lee as Chairman) caused her to stay in constant conflict with the board so she was unable to focus on the community needs. It was all about her being wronged and nothing about community development.

She refused to look at bringing any economic developments (banks, grocery stores, etc.) to a community that she, herself lived in. I remember being at one of her zoning meeting where she asked the community to look into community development by approaching brands to come into our community. WOW, soliciting the community to do her job. We lost major brands in our community under her leadership and she lifted not one finger to try and save any of them. Waffle House, Golden Corral, Steak and Shake, just to name a few.

What Cobb County is seeing NOW is what I tried to make residents see for five whole years. Immediately following the election, she thanked the voters of South Cobb from the dais for elevating her to the highest position in the county but rewarded them three months later by leaving the community for a $650,000 home in Vining. Don’t get me wrong, you can live wherever your income will allow you to live, however, in this case FOLLOW THE MONEY! If asked, I’m sure she’ll say that’s equivalent to the Governor leaving Athens to reside in the Governor’s Mansion. She seems to find an analogy for every mistake she has ever made by blaming others.

Well here’s my story. She questioned several communities pondering cityhood by saying they never asked for county services or all they had to do was ask. I asked and was shut down by Lisa Cupid, Dallas Cain (Cobb DOT) and Howard Rowling (the county attorney). She wants to bring RACE into play, well I’m an African American, senior citizen, taxpayer, and a registered voter that did not vote for nor support Lisa Cupid. But because I didn’t, Cobb DOT has been instructed by her to not clean a storm water channel ditch in front of my home that is clearly county right-of-way. Under her administration (because this is not leadership), it is now the responsibility of the homeowners to maintain the county’s right-of-ways. She even modified the SPLOST sidewalk projects and removed the installation of sidewalks from my side of the street as punishment for my non-support and holding her accountable for an oath she took to serve our community. Since she wants to compare previous administrations, the ditch was cleaned until she took reign. This is the type of grudge holding, immature, lack of leadership she brings to our county. What she’s facing is not about race but has everything to do with protecting the county’s financial resources and holding her accountable for the blatant mistakes she continuously makes.

Loss of the Major League All-star games, jeopardizing the closing of financial engines (Dobbins, Lockheed, Georgia Tech), PEOPLE she’s just getting started. Her lack of leadership as I pointed out for many years is showing, and it didn’t take long. You know the old clique “Sour milk always rises to the top.”
