Mental Health Forum to feature experienced professionals

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to host free educational event at Turner Chapel AME

In observance of Minority Mental Health Month, the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in association with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) invites the community to a panel discussion on mental health challenges currently affecting Black communities. The 2nd annual Mental Health Forum is July 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Turner Chapel AME (492 N. Marietta Parkway, Marietta, Ga 30060).

“This event is in observance of Minority Mental Health Month. Conversations about this topic are vital to community sustainability,” said event chair Marcuetta Sims, Ph.D. and licensed psychologist. “Having pertinent, timely, and accurate information as to how mental health challenges impact overall health and well-being is one step toward individuals acknowledging and seeking help.”

This year, a panel of five experienced professionals will provide insight via a moderated Q&A session.
