MARIETTA, GA -- A fatal crash on Interstate 75 over the Labor Day weekend that took the life of a motorcyclist is still under investigation, police said Tuesday. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Benjamin Clark of Acworth, authorities said.

The crash happened on I-75 northbound just north of South Marietta Parkway. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

A preliminary investigation shows that Clark's 2007 Honda Shadow motorcycle was headed up I-75 when it collided with a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Dominique Higgs of Flowery Branch. The motorcycle then crashed into the center median wall, throwing Clark from the bike. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to police spokesman Officer Chuck McPhilamy.
