Motorcyclist Who Struck Fire Hydrant Dies Of Injuries: Cobb Authorities

AUSTELL, GA -- A motorcyclist who crashed into a fire hydrant last week has died of his injuries, Cobb police said Wednesday. Curtis Endsley, 39, of Austell was rushed by ambulance to Grady Hospital with serious injuries in the July 28 crash.

Early Friday just after midnight, Endsley was traveling eastbound on Riverside Parkway on his blue 2006 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle, police said. Authorities believe that as he approached Flamingo Drive, he lost control because of "excessive speed," Cobb police spokesman Dana Pierce said.

Trying to make a negotiate a left curve in the road, Endsley left the roadway and crashed into a fire hydrant. He was thrown from the bike and suffered serious injuries, Pierce said.
Cobb police are still investigating the incident and are asking the public to contact them with any information which may assist investigators.
