New Mableton Park to be Unveiled

A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Thursday, April 28.

MABLETON, GA -- A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Thursday, April 28 at 10:30 am, for Cobb County’s newest community green space.

The park is located in front of Mableton Elementary School, 5220 Church Street.

Guest remarks scheduled by former Gov. Roy Barnes. Students from Mableton Elementary will provide a song performance.

Mableton Town Square is a $2.2 million project by Cobb County Community Development, PARKS and Department of Transportation funded by the county 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

The green space project created a new roadway, known as Mableton Town Square, at Walker Drive and Old Floyd Road. Originally known as the Walker Drive project, it accommodates on-street parking and wide sidewalks to encourage pedestrian activity and a neighborhood gathering spot.
