Parenting Workshop at South Cobb Library

Parents will learn and practice specific skills to reduce conflict between their children.

Registration is open for a six-week parenting workshop at the South Cobb Library in Mableton.

The workshop, led by Youth Services librarian Julienne Marks, will show how children can learn to live peacefully together, based on the book "Siblings Without Rivalry" by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.

It will begin Aug. 5 at South Cobb Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton. During each session, parents will learn and practice specific skills to reduce conflict between their children. The sessions will be offered on the following Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Session one: Aug. 5, Helping siblings deal with their feelings about each other
  • Session two: Aug. 12, Keeping children separate and unequal
  • Session three: Aug. 19, Siblings in roles
  • Session four: Aug. 26, When kids fight
  • Session five: Sept 9, Problem solving
  • Session six: Sept. 16, Final review

Registration is required and this workshop is for adults only. Participants are encouraged to supplement the workshop content activities by reading "Siblings Without Rivalry."
