Pebblebrook High Welcomes New Magnet School Coordinator
Robert Connor, a veteran stage actor, will lead the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts magnet program at Pebblebrook.

COBB COUNTY, GA — In just a few weeks, the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School will get a new leader at its helm.
Robert Connor will take over as the coordinator for CCCEPA starting June 1, Pebblebrook Principal Dana Giles said. He's replacing Frank Timmerman, who stepped down in December.
Connor has more than 40 years of experience in the arts and entertainment industry, as well as more than 20 years as an arts educator.

“We are ecstatic to have Mr. Robert Connor as part of the tremendous legacy of leadership for the Cobb County Center for Excellence in Performing Arts,” Giles said. “His reputation as a resourceful, creative and impactful leader is evidenced in his decades of experiences in successfully leading and growing various performing arts programs in Metro Atlanta and other states, coupled with his work with several local theatres and productions.”
Connor has appeared in a variety of stage productions, including "Camelot," "Urinetown," "Higher Ground," "Come out of the Rain," Tyler Perry’s "I Know I’ve Been Changed" and "Jezebel." He's also directed "Chicago," "Cinderella," "Hairspray," "Dreamgirls," "The Amen Corner," "Romeo & Juliet," "Black Nativity," and the world premiere of the amateur production of "The Color Purple."

Connor has also appeared in "The Cosby Show," "Greenleaf" and the movie "Glory," among other TV shows and movies, and has even sung with a variety of artists including Michael Buble, Gladys Knight and Barry Manilow. He has a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College and a master's degree in theatre with an emphasis on dramatic media from the University of Georgia, according to a news release.
“We are excited about the opportunity to ensure that our students will continue to be exposed and invited to top tier programs for advanced learning opportunities and experiences to both hone their skills within Performing Arts and develop into competitive performers in their chosen fields,” Giles said.
Cobb County School District has six magnet programs that take applications from students already in the district. CCCEPA students take core classes at Pebblebrook and magnet courses at the CCCEPA.
