Pedestrian Killed In Woodstock Crash ID'd As Marietta Man

Pedestrian killed in Woodstock crash identified as 31-year-old Marietta man.

AUSTELL, GA -- A pedestrian killed in a traffic crash has been identified as a 31-year-old Marietta man, police said this week. Russell L. Mathews was struck by a vehicle on Monday, Sept. 4, authorities said.

Shortly after the wreck, Mathews was found by police officers on the roadside along Canton Road in Woodstock.

Mathews was walking southbound on Canton Road when he was hi by a white 2003 Chevrolet Express van. He victim was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

The driver of the van has been identified as 48-year-old Scott A. Turner of Douglasville. Turner nor his female passenger were hurt in the collision, Pierce said.

Cobb police don't expect to file charges in the case, but anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
