South Cobb Road Work Updates, July 29-Aug 2

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Smyrna-Vinings and Cobb County during the week of July 29-Aug 2, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation and District 4 Commissioner Lisa Cupid.

Floyd Road Construction

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2. One lane will remain open while the contractor continues installing curb and gutter, sidewalks and grading.

Hopkins Road Bridge Replacement

Hopkins Road at Wildhorse Creek Bridge will open to traffic Monday, July 29, while the contractor continues to place roadway striping, new signs and lay sod.

Church Street/Mableton Elementary Sidewalk Construction

Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues placing concrete sidewalk, final grading, grassing and utility relocations.

Brookwood Drive Sidewalk Construction

Silver Comet Trail to Anderson Mill Road: The contractor will continue installing water main, begin installing storn drainage and utility relocation from Monday through Friday.

Al Bishop Drive Trail Construction

Callaway Road to County Services Parkway: The contractor will continue grading and placing concrete sidewalk Monday through Friday.

Road Resurfacing

Expect lane closures and delays with one lane remaining open at all times during scheduled asphalt paving operations this week on the following roads:

• Meadows Road from Hiram Lithia Springs Road to Oglesby Road
• Finch Road from Hill Road to Powers Springs Dallas Road
• Morris Road from Paulding County Line to Hiram Lithia Springs
• Flint Hill Road from Ewing Road to Powder Springs Road
• Sander Road from Powder Springs Road to Chestnut Grove Road
• McDuffie Road from Anderson Mill Road to Austell Road
• Clay Road from Austell Powder Springs Road to Austell Road
• Night work – Hick Road from Floyd Road to Austell Road
• Night work – Six Flags Drive from Blair Bridge Road to Factory Shoals Road
• Night work – Old Bankhead Highway from Veterans Memorial to Powder Springs Road
• Night work – Hillcrest Drive from South Gordon Road to Six Flags Parkway
• Night work – Six Flags Road from Riverside Parkway/White Road to Douglas County
