Suspect in South Cobb Craigslist Scam Linked to Others

The alleged armed robberies occurred between May 18 until July 6, according to arrest warrants.

The 19-year-old Austell man who allegedly lured a woman here via Craigslist and robbed her at gunpoint has been linked to five other armed robberies in South Cobb, according to new arrest warrants.

From May 18 until July 6, Iquane Shaquill Brown arranged to meet people interested in purchasing a television he described on Craigslist and allegedly robbed them at gunpoint when they arrived at the agreed upon locations, according to the warrants, which were issued on Monday.

In two of the new cases, Brown also allegedly carjacked the victims, according to the warrants.

Brown has been in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center since July 9 on one count each of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and hijacking of a motor vehicle.

That was the day that members of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, the Marietta Cobb Smyrna Organized Crime Unit and the Cobb County Police Department used Brown's own Craigslist posting to arrest him.

They arranged to meet him at 6471 Gordon Hills Dr. "under the guise of answering his Craigslist ad," Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren said last month.

"Upon Brown’s arrival," he said, "he was arrested. Brown was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest."

Brown faces a total of 21 charges in connection with all of the incidents.
