Two Killed in Overnight Wreck in Austell

Update, 10:57 a.m.

Patch just received the following email from Officer Mike Bowman with the Cobb County Police Department:

All we can confirm right now is that our S.T.E.P. unit is assisting the City of Austell with a traffic crash involving 2 confirmed fatalities at this time in the area of Austell Road and Sweetwater Lane.

Only 2 cars involved from what I have been told

I don’t have any more information at this time.

Two people are dead following an early morning accident on Austell Road in Austell, according to 11 Alive.

The wreck occurred about 3:30 a.m. just north of Veterans Memorial Highway.

Traffic is snarled due to only one northbound lane being open. Check back with South Cobb Patch for more details later today.
