Cleanup, Electronics Recycling Events Planned for South DeKalb County

Neighborhoods in South DeKalb County can cleanup and recycle unwanted electronics on Saturday.

If you have a closet full of old VCRs, DVD players, ancient computers and other electronics, this weekend is your chance to safely get rid of them.

DeKalb County will hold a cleanup and electronics recycling event from 9 to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, for South DeKalb residents.

According to Commissioner Stan Watson's website, the event is a partnership with DeKalb County, IMSE, and neighborhoods along Wesley Chapel, Rainbow, Columbia, Covington Highway and Flatshoals for a community cleanup and electronics recycling event.

This is the first electronics recycling event in South DeKalb County. From 9A-1P, old electronics will be accepted. There are no out-of-pocket expenses however residents must pay $10 each for plastic TVs, $5 each for plastic monitors and $30 each for plasma, projection or wooden console TVs, TVs that are broken or TVs with exposed bare tubes. Everything else is free.

Both the recycle event and cleanup effort are Saturday, April19th at 9:00A.M at the lot at the intersection of Wesley Chapel and Boring/Kelley Chapel Roads.

  • Rainbow/Columbia (near Porter Sanford) to Wesley Chapel
  • Covington Highway/Wesley Chapel to Flat Shoals Parkway
  • Flat Shoals/Columbia (near QT)  to 155- Snapfinger Road
  • South Hairston at Wesley Chapel to Covington Highway
