Congressman Johnson Holding "Shots at the Shop" Vaccination Event

Congressman Johnson Joins White House, DeKalb County Board of Health For "Shots at the Shop" Vaccination Event at Local Barbershop

DECATUR, GA – On Saturday, June 26 from 10 AM to noon, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) is joining the White House and Dekalb Board of Health to provide free Pfizer, Moderna and J&J COVID-19 vaccines at the First-Class Barbershop at the Centre at Panola.

As part of President Biden’s call for National Month of Action to mobilize an all-of-America sprint to get 70 percent of U.S. adults at least one shot by July 4th, Congressman Johnson is using creative ways to help his community get vaccinated.

WHEN: Saturday, June 26 from 10 AM to noon.

WHERE: First Class Barbershop at Panola Centre: 3051 Panola Road, Stonecrest, GA 30038.

WHY: To urge the community to get vaccinated – “Don’t Wait, Vaccinate.” Earlier this year, President Joe Biden set a goal to have 70 percent of Americans get at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine by July 4. To get there, states and cities are getting creative in their vaccine distribution. Congressman Johnson is enlisting the help of other prominent members of his community -- barbershop owners -- to make the vaccine available while you get a haircut.

“Variants are beginning to target our young people,” said Congressman Johnson, who is encouraging 12-to-17-year-olds to get the vaccine as well. “It’s threatening to take us back to the early days of the pandemic. We all need to get vaccinated to stop COVID in its tracks and crush the virus.”

“We are working collaboratively as a united front to address COVID-19,” said Interim District Health Director Dr. Sandra J. Valenciano, M.D., M.P.H. “Our goal is to provide access to COVID-19 vaccinations for all residents in DeKalb County, including the most vulnerable. We are deploying our mobile medical units throughout DeKalb County to ensure the community has equitable access to vaccine. We are excited about partnering with trusted community leaders to provide COVID-19 vaccines.”
