STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — The missing 1-year-old little girl in DeKalb County, Royalty Grisby, has been found and reunited with her mother after more than 12 hours apart.

A passerby alerted a DeKalb homeowner that they saw someone drop off a baby on her front porch, located at the 1500 block of Stoneleigh Hill Drive. Upon opening the door, the homeowner saw a crying baby matching Grisby's description and immediately alerted DeKalb police, who confirmed it was the missing child.

DeKalb police had already arrested a suspected kidnapper just hours before: 14-year-old Malachi Richardson.

"It's just a good day to know we have a baby back in the arms of its mother and the subject in custody," said Mirtha Ramos, DeKalb police chief, at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Grisby's mother works as a delivery driver for DoorDash, and was making a food delivery to the 1200 block of Harvest Dale Court in Stone Mountain around 2 a.m. Thursday. Grisby was asleep in the car while her mother made the delivery, when Richardson jumped into the car and took off — but the 1-year-old was still inside.

Richardson was arrested Thursday afternoon for the kidnapping of Grisby, a DeKalb County Police Department spokesperson said. Investigators said they believe the DoorDash order was fake and the delivery was a setup.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Law enforcement officials are searching for the subject of an Amber Alert in DeKalb County: Royalty Grisby, a 1-year-old girl.

Grisby was inside her mother's SUV Thursday morning as her mom was making food deliveries, since she works for DoorDash. The mother was making a delivery at the 1200 block of Harvest Dale Court in Stone Mountain around 2 a.m., when two suspects jumped into her car and took off — with Grisby inside.

She was last seen wearing a purple shirt with purple pants, as well as white and pink socks.

Police were searching for the vehicle — a maroon 2010 Nissan Armada with Georgia license plate #RWW4748 — and discovered it in Lithonia this morning; however, Grisby was not inside.

“I just want my baby home,” the girl’s mother said in a news conference. “I don’t care about anything with the car. I just want my baby back.”
