DeKalb Senior Living Facility Staff Shelter In Place At Center
More than 70 workers at a DeKalb senior living center have been sheltering-in-place at the facility to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — Employees at a senior living facility in Stone Mountain are being called “heroes.” More than 70 workers have temporarily been living on the 61-acre campus to help take care of the residents during this pandemic.
Donna Moore, Chief Operating Officer for Isakson Living, which runs Park Springs Senior Living, tells WXIA that they’ve been sleeping on air mattresses and in tents to limit the virus’ spread, while still being able to care for the residents.
“For our staff living on campus, we have over 70 employees that I now call heroes living on campus," Moore said. "They have soaked up this new approach like a sponge. They wanted to protect themselves. They wanted to protect members.

Moore said she had asked workers to stay through the end of April, but now she’s asked if they can stay longer, possibly through May.
She told the news station that most said, “they’re staying until the end.”
“No one told us to do what we are doing. We did it because we believe what we do in this place. We believe in our mission,” Moore said.
Park Springs said right now there are no coronavirus cases at the campus.
