Fourth, Fifth Graders Celebrating Public Works

Students at the DeKalb Academy of Technology and Environment are participating in National Public Works Week.

About 175 fourth and fifth grade students at the DeKalb Academy of Technology and Environment (D.A.T.E.) are helping the county's Department of Public Works celebrate National Public Works Week by exploring the services the department delivers.

The event takes place on Wednesday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at D.A.T.E. located at 1492 Kelton Road in Stone Mountain, and its main purpose is to increase the students’ awareness of the career options and functions of each division of Public Works.

In DeKalb, Public Works includes transportation, road and drainage, solid waste and fleet maintenance, and watershed management.
