The announcement comes on the heels of other huge sports venues in metro Atlanta, including SunTrust Park in Cobb County and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.
The new DeKalb complex is seen as a major boon for soccer fans and is in line with other sports initiatives in metro Atlanta such as Station Soccer.

"This facility will provide a place for dozens of local tournament and give us the ability to bid on major regional and national tournaments,” said Greg Griffith, executive director of the Georgia Soccer Association. “The proximity to metro Atlanta and the best airport in the country makes this a great location for a sports complex,” Griffith was quoted as saying.

"We’ve invested years of shaping this concept, assembling the right partners, and finding the perfect location to make this a reality," Patrick Henderson, CEO of Atlanta Sports Connection, who will run the site, said, according to WAGA. "We couldn't be more excited for the culmination of all the incredibly hard work and the phenomenal impact it will make in the Atlanta Region. Not to mention the lives it will touch through sports and increased employment. It nearly brings you to tears!"
Planners hope the complex becomes a regional power in sports tourism and a venue for high school and college sports teams to hold tournaments and other competitions.
