'Love Fest' Aims To Stop Violence And Incarceration

Event challenges youth to stop the violence.

From the SCLC Stop the Violence & Incarceration Campaign:

For the third year in a row, the SCLC Stop the Violence & Incarceration Campaign will be hosting "Love Fests" around Metro Atlanta, starting with a kickoff event on May 17th, empowering youth to reach out to fellow youth through music and drama with a message of hope and positive challenge.

Local churches, charities, ministries, non-profit organizations, small and large businesses, crafters, artists and food vendors will also have an opportunity to raise funds and create awareness, while providing positive examples and inspiration to our youth.

This year's theme is "Celebrate Life!" highlighting the amazing, equal dignity and value of every human life no matter the circumstances.

Area youth bands, singers, actors/actresses and poets are invited to use their talent to challenge fellow youth to stop the violence and make positive, life-affirming choices.

Individuals and organizations are invited to host sales/info booths at the very low cost of $25 for three hours to sell products and/or provide info about their organization/ministry/business, while sharing encouraging words with attendees to show that we can change poverty and despair from the ground up without resorting to violence, crime and hatred; we need to encourage our youth to discover their own talents and abilities, provide info on help available in the community for difficult/crisis situations, and share personal stories of overcoming the odds.

Various levels of sponsorship are available for individuals and organizations, through which your organization/business/ministry can be promoted.

Music, drama, inspiration, food, family fun, arts and crafts, and a host of local organizations promise to make this an exciting day and the continuation of a movement to stop the violence and prevent incarceration of our youth, moms and dads!  There is no charge to get in and all are welcome!
