False Alarm Causes Lockdown At Lithonia School: Officials
The principal briefly closed the school's doors Tuesday morning as police investigated the report of a gunshot victim.

LITHONIA, GA — A DeKalb County elementary school was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday morning as DeKalb police searched the area for a gunshot victim, but the report turned out to be a false alarm, officials said. The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. at Farrington Elementary School, at 5505 Phillip Bradley Drive in Lithonia.
The school's principal ordered the lockdown as a standard operating procedure after a parent reported seeing a shooting, said Shiera Campbell, a DeKalb police spokeswoman. Police arrived at the scene to search for a gunshot victim, but found nothing.
"A parent thought she saw someone who had been shot," said Andre Riley, director of communications and marketing for the DeKalb schools. "That turned out not to be the case."
