Long-time officer announces bid for Henry Sheriff
Eric J. Wilson has more than 28 years of law enforcement experience.

McDonough, GA - Veteran Henry County law enforcement officer Eric J. Wilson announces his campaign for sheriff today.
Wilson filed his declaration of candidacy today for the 2020 race. Wilson has more than 28 years of law enforcement experience – 25 of which he has served Henry County citizens.
“I am running to give back to the community that I have so proudly served and that has given so much to my family and I. And when I say family, I mean both my immediate family and my brothers and sisters in Henry County law enforcement who served with me,” Wilson said. “When elected, I will work to restore honor and integrity to the office, and to recruit a diverse department that reflects the citizens of our growing county.”
Wilson currently works as an investigator with the Henry County District Attorney’s Office. He previously spent ten years working for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and nine years with the Henry County Police Department. His experience includes all aspects of law enforcement, including serving as a narcotics agent, courtroom deputy, patrol officer and corrections officer. He also has worked in hostage negotiations, community relations, special operations (SWAT) and dispatch.

Wilson honorably served with the U.S. Marine Corps before becoming a certified Georgia peace officer. He currently serves as a board member for the Bruce Holmes Youth Foundation. A father of three daughters, Wilson and his wife reside in the Kellytown community in McDonough.
Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer previously announced he will retire at the end of his term in 2020.
